Is writing achieved when checksum is shown as NG on downloading files?

Latest Updated:10/02/2012

Question:

The R8C family MCU is debugged in the High-performance Embedded Workshop environment using the E1/E20 emulator.
When downloading a file with [Writing the on-chip flash memory mode] selected, a message indicating that writing was successful is displayed. However, the checksum is displayed as NG. Has writing been successful?

Flash memory writing OK.
ID code: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Checksum:
INT: H'xxxxxxxx (NG)

Answer:

When the checksum is displayed as NG, writing has not been performed successfully. This may happen when a product type name different from the microcontroller that is actually used has been selected in [Device] of the [Initial Settings] dialog box when making settings in the High-performance Embedded Workshop for connection to the emulator.
Make sure to select the product type name of the MCU mounted on the board.
