Is there a way to link all of the symbols in the library file?

Latest Updated:06/12/2006

Question:

Is there a way to link all of the symbols in the library file?

Answer:

Symbols that are not referenced in the library file cannot be linked.
This obstacle cannot be worked around even using an option.
If you want to link all the symbols, use a relocatable file rather than the library file.
A comparison of library and relocatable files can be found at FAQ 100962.

Converting an existing library file or standard library file to a relocatable file can be done easily using Librarian (LbrEx.exe).
The following are instructions for conversion to a relocatable file using Librarian.

  1. Startup Librarian from the HEW menu: select [Tools] -> [Hitachi H Series Librarian Interface]
  2. Open the target *.lib file by selecting [File] -> [Open]
  3. Select all symbols displayed on the list, then select [Action] -> [Extract].
  4. Select [Relocatable file] in the [Output file type] in the dialog, then select [Output folder].

# Converting with Librarian creates a relocatable file for each symbol.
