What do internal verification functions and commands of RL78?

Latest Updated:04/04/2014

Question:

What specifically do the internal verification functions and commands of the libraries for the RL78 family of MCUs listed below confirm? Is it possible to use them to confirm that data values have been correctly written?

  • Flash Self Programming Library Type01: FSL_Iverify function
  • Data Flash Library Type04: PFDL_Execute function with PFDL_CMD_IVRIFY_BYTES command
  • EEPROM Emulation Library Pack02: EEL_Execute function with EEL_CMD_VRIFY command

Answer:

The internal verification functions and commands are used to confirm that the signal levels are appropriate for each bit of flash memory (in other words, the signals are not at the intermediate voltage). They do not compare the data that were originally written with the results of writing.
If you need to compare the data, compare the checksum values of the data or read out the results of written flash memory and compare them with the data that were originally written. Each library has different checksum functions and functions for reading data. For more information, confirm the functions in the user’s manual for the library you are using from here.
