What happens to the generated code if I designate a -Xround option?

Latest Updated:09/04/2015

Question:

What happens to the generated code if I designate a -Xround option?

Answer:

The rounding mode for floating-point constants can be designated by specifying a –Xround option. The selected mode is effective in rounding of the results of operations used within the compiler for calculations involving floating-point constants and so on.
If the -Xfloat=soft option and this option are designated at the same time, the -Xround option will be ineffective and the result will always be rounding to the nearest expressible value.
Within the chip, the rounding mode for FPU instructions is designated by the RM bits of the FPSR register.
